Beyond the Journey

Africa Yoga Safaris guide
How We Began

Travel, Slowed Down to the Pace of Breath

Africa Yoga Safaris started with a question we kept asking ourselves after every trip we led: why does travel usually rush past the very stillness people are seeking? We set out to build something different — retreats where the itinerary bends around the practice, not the other way around.

What began as small sunrise sessions above Victoria Falls has grown into a full circuit of experiences across Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana, each one built in close partnership with local guides, studios, lodges and conservation-minded operators who know these landscapes intimately. We’re still small by design — every retreat is led in person, every group kept intimate enough to actually know each other’s names by day two — even as we build toward a pan-African footprint.

Owners & Operators

Kerrith O’Fee & Shaun Read

Africa Yoga Safaris is owned and operated by Kerrith O’Fee and Shaun Read, whose own years spent living and guiding across Southern Africa shape every itinerary we build. Their firsthand knowledge of the region’s lodges, guides and landscapes is what lets us curate retreats with this level of care.

What We Believe

Our Philosophy

Mindful Adventure

Every day balances real exertion with real stillness — movement, breath, and enough quiet in between to actually notice where you are.

Conservation-Minded

We work exclusively with ethical, conservation-focused partners, and a share of every retreat supports local wildlife and community initiatives.

Community & Connection

Small groups, shared meals, and long unstructured hours — the friendships tend to outlast the sunburn.

Expert Guidance

Every session is led by an experienced, certified instructor, supported by local guides who know the land, wildlife, and weather intimately.

Our Partners

Victoria Falls Yoga

Our Zambezi River sessions are hosted in partnership with Victoria Falls Yoga, a local studio deeply rooted in the region. Their instructors bring an intimate knowledge of the river, its light, and its rhythms — the kind that only comes from teaching in the same place, season after season.

Beyond Yoga

Yoga Is the Foundation, Not the Whole Story

Africa Yoga Safaris is not simply about practising yoga while on safari. Yoga provides the foundation, but the broader proposition is wellness through connection with Africa and the natural world. Depending on the destination and programme, experiences can incorporate meditation, breathwork, mindful walking, journalling, digital detox periods, sound experiences, spa and massage treatments, healthy food, conservation activities, cultural encounters, hiking, river experiences and traditional safari activities.

The Difference

Safari and Yoga, Intentionally Integrated

The safari is not an activity added onto a yoga retreat, and yoga is not simply an activity added onto a safari — the two are intentionally integrated. We use the emotional power of Africa’s wilderness to create experiences that encourage guests to slow down, disconnect from everyday pressures, and reconnect — with themselves, with other people, and with nature. The result is a new interpretation of the African safari: one where the journey is not only about what you see, but about how the destination makes you feel.

Our Positioning
Africa Yoga Safaris curates transformative wellness journeys across Africa, combining yoga, mindfulness and holistic wellbeing with safari, wilderness, culture and extraordinary natural destinations.
